Winter 2012 Calendar

posted 7 Jan 2012 09:21 by Robin Herbert   [ updated 7 Jan 2012 09:22 ]

The Winter 2012 (Jan to April) task list has been decided and is now being published online, with the first task on Sunday 8th Jan at Forty Hall. Work is taking place on Crater Pond, clearing back vegetation which is easier to manage at this time of year. Hoping for a dry and crisp day, do join us; either meet us in the car park at 10am (I'm sure we won't be hard to recognise - probably the only ones without dogs!) or wander down from the house, keeping well over to the left as you do down. If you get to the brook at the bottom, you've not gone far enough to the left!
Work off those Christmas and New Year excesses with a bit of vegetation aggression!

Christmas Social Walk

posted 30 Nov 2011 11:52 by Robin Herbert   [ updated 1 Dec 2011 05:24 ]

Come and join the friendly ECVers for a social walk around Lee Valley Park!
We're starting at Cheshunt Station at 10am. A nice walk around the lakes and along the River Lee, ending up at The Crown at the Broxbourne end of the park, before returning (probably at a more leisurely pace) to Cheshunt Station. And then, make joining ECV on our 2012 tasks on of your New Year Resolutions.

If you'd like to join us at The Crown, then please let judy@ecv.org.uk know ASAP so that she can book your place(s).

The 'Death' of ECV?

posted 26 Apr 2011 09:18 by Robin Herbert   [ updated 28 Apr 2011 07:43 ]

Recent news of the impending death of Enfield Conservation Volunteers have been greatly exagerated.

Following the departure of our contact in the London Borough of Enfield Christina Lee to the wilds of Wales, and widespread budget cutback in all local authorities, not just LBE, the future of ECV appeared to be in doubt. Certainly, without the support of LBE (for example with guidance on suitable tasks and insurance), ECV would have difficulty continuing in it's valued work in the parks and open spaces of Enfield.

However, we're happy to report, LBE have appointed a replacement for Christina Lee - Jenny Willmot - and with the support of Shirley Scott the LBE Partnership & Outreach Services Manager it looks like ECV will emerge from uncertainty with refreshed vigor!

ECV is alive and kicking and all are welcome!
